International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD)
31 July 2020
ICOLD focuses on the international sharing of the latest knowledge in the field of large dams. The commission has more than 95 members (countries). It develops standards and guidelines to ensure that dams are built and operated efficiently, economically and environmentally friendly in a sustainable and socially fair manner. Under the European club of ICOLD (EuroCold) a working group on dikes was initiated in 2015, of which the Netherlands (Rijkswaterstaat) is the secretariat. In addition, there are a number of technical committees within ICOLD that are interested in specific knowledge from the Netherlands, for example the new risk approach for flood defense and also the use of innovative measurement techniques. This is interesting for Dutch knowledge institutes and business.
